The organization started in 1939 in Detroit, MI. This was in a time
that african-americans were not allowed to participate in the then
all white bowling associations. This organization helped to
integrate the sport of bowling. Now both organizations,TNBA
and USBC ( formerly ABC & WIBC ) now welcome all races.
TNBA 's history and outcast from the other organizations made
it that much more special to the black bowler. Consequently,
every member of TNBA is apart of a large, ever growing, family.
As a matter of fact, that was one of the biggest selling points.
" This is one big family reunion, " we were told by the
representative that came to give us our history lesson for the day.
As soon as you start to participate in the many functions across the
region & nation for TNBA, you realize that you quickly gain long lasting
relationships as well as enjoying strong competitive bowling.
There is so much love and friendship with the people you get
to know (and even those you don't know ) it is overwhelming.
They come to support your events no matter what, if they can.
NOW, THAT'S FAMILY!
We were surprised to learn that the South Bend had a senate back
in the 60's and 70's.The revitalized South Bend Senate intends to
continue to promote the sport and the organization and make sure that
we are here to stay.
We officially re-chaptered on December 7, 2003. We experience a few
growing pains at the start, but overall we have come a long, long way.
We are extremely proud of our senate and what we
have done in such a short period of time.
